Zart 「ツァルト Tsuaruto?」, also known as Zart the Remnant 「
Personality[]
Zart, like the rest of his species, possesses an intense pride and confidence in his abilities, evident when he declared his intent to slaughter the entire Hero Party. He retains his sense of superiority even while cornered.
Zart is cunning and can use his magic to create troublesome situations for his enemies, forcing them to act in his favor. Additionally, Zart is both observant and calculating, consistently analyzing his opponents' skills throughout the battle, such as Himmel's speed[1] and Frieren's precise mana control.[2]
Appearance[]
Zart is a demon with a single horn jutting from the right side of his forehead. He wears a long robe with loose sleeves, and has a series of horizontal belts cinched at his waist. The robe is adorned with patterns around the collar and neckline.
Synopsis[]
History[]
Seven years after the Hero Party set off on their journey, Zart guarded the Goddess's Monument at the Kino Mountain Pass. Using his magic, he killed a group of Imperial Army soldiers by teleporting them and their carts high into the air, causing them to fall to their deaths. When he sensed a disturbance in space-time, Zart launched an attack on the Hero Party near the Kino Pass.
Goddess's Monument Arc[]

Zart teleports Frieren into the sky.
As the Hero Party examines the corpses of Imperial soldiers, Zart the Remnant appears, confronting them after sensing disturbances in space-time. Himmel and Zart have a brief exchange before the former lunges at the latter with his blade. Zart evades the attack and appears behind Frieren, teleporting her into the air. He then claims that he would let Frieren live if Himmel and the rest of the Hero Party put down their weapons, but after a long range attack from Frieren, the party decides to fight him. Frieren is eventually able to land safely by using the recoil from a powerful spell to slow her descent and joins the rest of the party in fighting Zart.
Ultimately, Zart is injured by a joint attack from Himmel and Eisen, but he touches a cliff, teleporting a huge landmass above the party to crush them before teleporting away. Frieren is forced to use magic from the future to destroy it and then kills Zart with Zoltraak before he can escape.
Abilities[]
- Spatial Transference Magic: Zart is capable of transferring himself, objects and other people through space in a manner similar to teleportation. This requires him to make direct contact with a target. He prefers to use this power to teleport his opponents high into the sky, where they will fall to their deaths. While the full limits of this magic is unknown, he is capable of teleporting Frieren high enough that it would take her sixty seconds to reach the ground,[3] as well as teleporting a huge landmass several hundreds of meters into the air by touching a cliff.
