Introduction |
Neu 「ノイ Noi?」 is a member of the Empire's Magic Special Forces. He and his partner Kanone are assigned to patrol the social gathering that Land and Übel are sent to infiltrate. Neu barges in on Land and Übel, who are pretending to be fooling around in a storage room. He is cautioned by his partner to not be reckless with nobles. When Land and Übel's ruse is discovered, Kanone sends him to pursue them.
Personality[]
Neu appears to be a polite and apologetic individual, frequently apologizing for various actions, such as for the destruction he caused in the old Imperial Square during his battle against Übel. He seems principled and focused on doing the right thing, often giving opponents warning signals and aiming to avoid villainous behavior. He was notably surprised when Land seemed to have been offering to betray Übel. According to Kanone, Neu usually waits for backup when a confrontation seems likely.[1] However, he has also demonstrated the ability to go on a rampage when he perceives a threat. In battle, Neu is highly analytical, as demonstrated by his ability to narrow down the functionality of Sorganeil.
Appearance[]
Neu is a tall individual with silver hair. He wears the standard Magic Special Forces uniform, consisting of a belted and collared tunic, trousers, a black ascot tie with a gem, a collared cape, black gloves, black boots, and a matching officer cap decorated with the emblem of the Magic Special Forces. Additionally, he carries a standard-issue sharp melee weapon that resembles a baton. This weapon features an arced hand guard and can also be used to cast magic.
Synopsis[]
Foundation Festival Arc[]
Kanone and Neu are first seen guarding VIPs at a manor during the National Foundation Day Festival. When Neu encounters Übel and Land, he mistakenly assumes they are a couple making out and apologizes before closing the door.
Neu then discusses their next steps with Kanone, sensing that Übel and Land are powerful mages. As they prepare to enter the room, Kanone discovers a badge on the ground and concludes that the two might be young nobles from the Imperial Magic Academy. Initially, they decide to leave them alone. However, upon noticing that the badge is bent, they forcefully enter the room, only to find that Übel and Land have already vanished. Neu then goes on to pursue them while Kanone remains behind to investigate the room.
Neu chases after Land and Übel, using mana warning signals to track them. He uses mana-driven telekinesis to crush Land's clone, which is accompanying Übel, with a piece of a building. Neu quickly deduces that Übel is not from the Empire when she expresses ignorance about the signals. Neu commands Übel to surrender, but a confrontation ensues when Übel charges at him. During the battle, Neu is temporarily restrained by Sorganeil. However, he manages to use a spell to blind and disable Übel's mana detection. Reluctantly, Neu then threatens to kill Übel if Land does not reveal himself. After Land reveals himself, Neu, along with fellow Magic Special Forces member Weg, take both Land and Übel into custody, transporting them in a steel carriage.
Neu next appears, bringing a report to Kanone while she is speaking to Denken. He informs her that the two mages have been apprehended, and after Kanone bids Denken farewell, they head to the prison where the mages are being held for questioning. On the way to the cell, Kanone scolds Neu for the destruction he caused in the old Imperial Square during their capture.
When they enter the cell, Land claims he wants to confess everything. As Neu begins to question him, he quickly realizes that Land is actually a clone and apologizes to Kanone for the mistake. Kanone confirms this and destroys the clone. Neu then wonders when the switch occurred and leaves the cell to search for the real Land, unaware that Land is still inside, hiding in the rafters of the room.

Abilities[]
As a member of the Empire's Magic Special Forces, Neu is acknowledged as one of the strongest and most powerful mages in the country.
- Mana-Driven Telekinesis/Material Manipulation: As observed by Übel, Neu's primary offensive spell is an extremely powerful gravity-based, telekinetic spell. This spell allows him to lift and hurl objects, such as large chunks of a building, towards his designated targets with immense force and power. Neu is also capable of precisely firing smaller projectiles at a target, such as when he disarms Übel of her staff with a rock.[2]
- Unnamed blasting spell: Neu showcased a unique form of telekinesis against Übel, where he is able to blast large objects towards her despite him and his mana being restrained with Sorganeil.[3]
- Unnamed blinding spell: During his fight against Übel, Neu showcased the ability to cast a spell that limits his opponent's senses by removing their vision and disabling their mana detection.[4] Übel notes this spell to be a powerful application of basic magic, though it may not be inherently complex.[5]
