Humans 「
Introduction[]
Origin and History[]
The origins of humanity remain largely unknown. However, it is known that humans have existed since the Mythical Era, when notable figures like Ewig the Sage emerged. During this period, humans began to accumulate magical knowledge, which enabled the creation of spells such as Mistilziela.[1]
During the period of the Unified Dynasty, a human king constructed a tomb to serve as his final resting place.
More than a millennium before the Hero Party's quest,[2] the Demon King ascended to power,[2] and sought coexistence with humanity. However, this pursuit ultimately led to the great war between humans and demons.[3]
In the Era of the Unified Empire, magic was considered a taboo in human society due to its association with demonic arts. This changed due to the efforts of the Great Mage Flamme, who persuaded the Emperor of the Unified Empire to legalize and develop magic. The Empire spearheaded magical research, causing neighboring nations to follow suit. Within decades, magic became widespread, giving humanity the strength to resist the Demon King's Army.[4]
Humanity was pivotal in the Demon King’s defeat,[5] with the majority of the allied forces being humans, among others including warriors, mages, priests, and heroes. Ultimately, it was the Hero Party who succeeded in defeating the Demon King, ushering in an era of peace.
Biology[]
Humans are a bipedal species with a central torso, two legs, two arms, and a head. Like other sentient races, they possess a soul.[6][7] Their lifespan is typically around 70 to 90 years, though rare individuals like Heiter can live up to a century.[note 1] Compared to other races, humans are relatively fragile and short-lived.[5]
Appearance[]
Humans exhibit great variation in physical traits such as height, build, strength, and endurance. They can train to enhance their abilities, though aging often leads to reduced stature and other physical changes.
Behavior and Culture[]
Humans rely heavily on collaboration and collective effort to overcome their natural limitations. This communal approach has allowed them to achieve significant advancements in magic, science, and technology.[5]
Social Hierarchy[]
Human society is structured into distinct social classes to maintain order:[10]
- Kings 「
国 王 Kokuō?」 and Emperors 「皇 帝 Kōtei?」 are rulers of nations who oversee vast territories from their capital cities. They often task adventurers with defeating demons and other threats, ensuring order and stability.[11] - Nobles 「
貴 族 Kizoku?」 are individuals born into wealth and privilege. Nobles frequently assist rulers in governance, with some playing key roles in military strategy and political affairs.[11] - Commoners 「
平 民 Heimin?」 are the general population that make up the majority of human society. They engage in labor, commerce, and other essential activities to sustain the economy. Despite facing daily hardships, they are the backbone of human civilization.[11]

Notes[]
- ↑ Heiter appears to be somewhat close in age to Himmel, given they were both children that grew up together in the same village.[8][9] Himmel died at approximately 76 years old, and Heiter was visited by Frieren 20 years after Himmel's funeral. Frieren stayed for around another 5 to 6 years until Heiter's death before she went on a new journey with Fern. This would make Heiter somewhere around 100 years old at death.
