Frieren[]

Himmel first met Frieren when she found him lost in a forest when he was younger and she wordlessly pointed out the direction of the nearest human settlement. Though he initially thought her response to be cold, Frieren then cast a spell to create a field of flowers. This was the first time Himmel thought that magic was beautiful, and is implied to be part of the reason why he sought Frieren out to be the mage for his party. He was the one that encouraged Frieren to join the party when she herself had already given up on her goal of defeating the Demon King. Himmel loved Frieren greatly, going so far as to give her a mirrored-lotus ring symbolizing eternal love. He understood the difference in emotional and time perception between a long-lived species and himself, and knew that Frieren would not be aware of the meaning behind his actions. In their years journeying together, Himmel helped Frieren open up emotionally to him and to the party. He encouraged her to remember Flamme and asked her to carry his and Heiter's memories to the future with her. Himmel commissioned statues of himself and the Hero Party throughout the land both out of vanity but also as a physical sign of their party's existence. By commissioning statues around the lands, he ensures that the Hero Party will live on in other people's memories and Frieren will not have to carry their memory alone. Though his dream was to marry Frieren, at some point in the journey he gives up on this dream without telling Frieren of his feelings. However, it is strongly implied that he held feelings for Frieren until his death. He is not shown to have had a spouse or children. In his old age, he still talked about Frieren as he traveled around the land, and was described to be happy whenever he talked about her even though he wondered if she had forgotten about him. However, he still had faith that she would fulfill their fifty-year promise to see the Era Meteors again as a party.

Heiter[]

Himmel and Heiter were best friends. The two grew up in the same orphanage. When they were children, Himmel saved a merchant and the merchant gifted Himmel a replica of the Hero's Sword. However, Heiter called Himmel a fake hero, as with a fake sword he could never be a real hero. This would be the initial motivation for Himmel to endeavor to go on and become a real hero that could pull out the Hero's Sword. Throughout their years traveling together, Himmel proved to Heiter that he was a true hero; Heiter would later apologize for calling Himmel a fake hero all those years ago, but Himmel easily forgave him as his words were Himmel's original motivation to travel, and furthermore Heiter truly believed in Himmel now. Though he himself had little faith in the idea of defeating the Demon King, Heiter commented that he believed in Himmel, who always made the impossible possible. Whenever Heiter became cynical about their odds, Himmel was the one to reassure him or otherwise raise the mood again. During the Hero Party's adventure, Himmel and Heiter were both the mood makers of the party, with Himmel often glibly calling out Heiter's alcoholism or making fun of how Heiter was a fake priest in order to distract from heavier moods.

Eisen[]

Eisen was the vanguard of the Hero Party. The two of them greatly respected one another and became close in their ten years journeying together. Himmel trusted Eisen wholeheartedly with his life despite Eisen's admission that he had run away in the past which resulted in the death of his family. He reassured Eisen that they were in a party together, meaning if the need to flee arose, then they would flee together. Himmel is also seen trying to reassure Eisen whenever he noticed Eisen's fear. Though he isn't able to reassure Eisen as he had hoped to, since he himself was scared, Eisen claimed that his words still helped to assuage his fears. Himmel was also well aware of Eisen's capabilities and didn't express surprise at any of Eisen's feats, such as appearing completely unsurprised when Eisen was fine after being flung away by a dragon. The two of them were both fans of scaling difficult terrain, and they would discuss the challenges that awaited them together.
