Blocking Policy

This is the Image Policy for Frieren Wiki, which describes the guidelines for images uploads. These rules are subject to change any time without prior notice. Any further issue not stated here is up to the discretion of the wiki's staff team.

Discussion or questions regarding the Image Policy can be discussed in the affiliated Discord or on the message walls of active administrators.

General Rules

  • Any image considered to be inappropriate (nudity, sexual activity, gore, etc.) is to be immediately deleted and, depending on the severity of the offense, the user may be blocked from editing the wiki.
    • Any user that uploads media violating Fandom's Terms of Use will receive a permanent block.
  • Only upload images that you are going to use (i.e. in articles or galleries).
    • Before deleting an unused image, you must check if there is a page where it can be included, and include it if that is the case.

Acceptable vs. Unacceptable Images

Acceptable Images Unacceptable Images
  • Images related to the series and taken directly from the official source. This can include websites, social media, or any other form of online platform directly linked to or endorsed by the official Frieren site and/or authors.
  • In the case of the manga, images should be uploaded with no text in speech bubbles. If there is text outside of a speech bubble that would need to be redrawn, the raw (Japanese) version must be used.
    • Only the text outside of a speech bubble in a raw version does not need to be erased. The text inside a speech bubble must still be erased.
  • Only use .gif or .png file extensions. This is to create a standard file type across the wiki system, and certain file extension types (such as .bmp) are not uploadable.
  • Images unrelated to Frieren.
  • Fanart of any form, unless posted by the official Frieren accounts or website.
  • Images specifically uploaded for a user profile.
  • Images with improper filenames.
  • Files in any other format other than .png or .gif. This includes files with .jpg/.jpeg, .webp, or .mp4 extensions.
  • Images with watermarks.
    • The exception is if it is an official watermark.
  • Nudity and any other kind of image that shows explicit scenes, even if it is from an official source, according to Fandom's Terms of Use.
  • Duplicate images.
    • If you find a duplicate image, please mark it with {{Delete}} in the file summary and include the filename of the duplicated image.
  • Fake images (e.g. episode screenshots that were fan-created to look canon).
  • Images that have been artificially upscaled from their original resolution.
Failure to abide by the 'Acceptable Images' policy will result in the image(s) being deleted. In extreme cases (eg. breaking Fandom's Terms of Use via image upload), a permanent block from the wiki may be necessary.

Consequences

Images that do not follow the 'Acceptable Image' policy will be removed or replaced. If an individual is found to have continuously violated the image policy, they will be given a single warning. If the same individual continues to disobey the policy, the user will potentially receive either a temporary or permanent block from the wiki, depending on the extent of the violation.

Image Requirements

When you upload an image to this wiki, please provide the minimum necessary information:

  • Descriptive filename: Files should be named to outline key elements that occur in the image.
    • When uploading an image from the manga or anime, append CH # or EP # to it to specify which chapter or episode it is sourced from. For images used as character profiles, this is not necessary, as they may be regularly updated as new media comes out.
    • Examples of some good filenames are:
      • Frieren manga profile.png
      • The Hero Party watches the Era Meteors EP1.png
      • Frieren cries over Himmel's death CH1.png
    • Examples of some bad filenames are:
      • Screenshot 2021-04-05 at 6.33.04 PM.png
      • Frieren3.jpg
      • ASDF_GHJK_LMNB_VCXZ.webp
  • Licensing: The {{Fairuse}} template should be added to every image you upload that is from an official source. It can be added by selecting 'Fair use' in the dropdown licensing menu below where the file is renamed, by writing {{Fairuse}} in the upload summary, or by manually editing {{Fairuse}} onto the file page.
  • Categorization: Please add the appropriate episode/chapter and character categories to images you upload. This can be done by writing [[Category:<character or source> images]] in the upload summary or on the file page after it has been uploaded. These categories should include which characters are in the image and which episode/chapter you took the image from.
  • Gallery addition: Please add all images that contain a character with a /Gallery subpage (e.g. Fern/Gallery) to said character's gallery under the appropriate heading. If you're unsure what the appropriate heading is, please use previously populated galleries as a reference or contact an admin.
