Escape 「

Plot Details[]
Weg escorts Übel and Land up a tower into their prison cell and leaves after verifying that the two mages' restraints are secure. Übel confirms that her vision and mana detection are still restricted, but her mental defenses remain intact, and her physical sight is likely unaffected. She concludes that her mana detection is affected by a disruption in the mana control throughout her body due to a spell cast by Neu that limits her senses. Reflecting on her battle with Neu, she realizes his spellcasting technique may not be as complex as she initially thought.

Übel cuts through Land's restraints.
Meanwhile, Land's rope restraints prevent him from casting magic. However, he recognizes that the restriction comes from the rope itself and recalls how, during the First-Class Mage Exam, Übel managed to cut through the hair of Sense's clone, which was similarly imbued with magic. Still skeptical about the feasibility of her achieving the same feat with their restraints, he expresses his lack of understanding to Übel. She advises him not to think about it, and he directly asks if she can use her magic. Übel responds by cleanly slicing through Land's restraints. Land thanks her while continuing to wonder about the principles behind her magic.
Kanone and Neu head up the tower, with Kanone scolding Neu for the destruction he caused during his battle against Übel and Land. Neu justifies his actions by reminding her that the area was already scheduled for demolition. Kanone asks if Neu plans on reporting as such to Captain Fräse, and she rejects Neu's suggestion of reporting it together. Kanone tells Neu that he acted out of character, as he would typically wait for her to arrive before confronting opponents who refused to surrender. Neu explains that Übel and Land were too significant a threat to not confront and apprehend immediately, and he reflects on the similarities between the actions of Übel and Fräse.

Land notices the busy market.
In their cell, Land figures out that they are imprisoned in a tall tower overlooking a cliff. Übel mentions the sound of a crowd below, and Land identifies a marketplace at the base of the cliff. As they prepare to escape, Kanone and Neu approaches the cell, and Land creates a clone of himself to buy time.
Kanone and Neu enter the cell, where Land and Übel sit restrained. Land tells them that he will confess to everything and pleads for his release adding that he does not care what happens to Übel. Neu reminds him that he turned himself in for her, but Land claims that she threatened him and insists he has done nothing wrong, baffling Neu. Neu begins to respond to Land but realizes something and apologizes to Kanone for his blunder. Kanone immediately attacks Land, revealing him to be a clone. Neu leaves to search for Land's real body, leaving Kanone alone in the cell with Übel.

Übel slices up the tower with Reelseiden.
With Neu gone, Kanone suggests that Übel cut through her restraints, and the real Land jumps down from the ceiling, cornering Kanone with his staff. Kanone compliments the pair for deceiving Neu, but she voices concern about their method, as she is now forced to fight them to the death to appease the higher-ups. Kanone proposes that they settle matters peacefully, but Übel promptly slices up the tower with Reelseiden. She warns Kanone that the people in the market below will be crushed by the rubble and suggests she can use the excuse that saving lives became the priority. Kanone accepts her proposition and tells them to get out. As Übel and Land fly away from the crumbling tower, Land expresses his distaste with their approach, and Übel promises to be more careful in the future.
While Kanone clears the debris, Weg arrives and prepares to go after Übel and Land. Kanone advises against it, stating that the two mages may be too difficult to handle. She also requests that Weg tell Neu not to pursue them either, as she can deal with Übel and Land after they reveal their intel.
